What are your top five favorite instrumentals by Burt? I'm not talking instrumental versions of songs with lyrics, but rather, pieces Burt wrote without any lyrics; pieces that were purely instrumental. In no particular order, my top five favorites are:

My favorite instrumentals of BURT are,
1.Magdalena.
2.Woman.
3.Monterey Peninsula.
4.Always Taking Aim.
5.Can`t Give Up.
These are my favorite but to be honest, i like all the instrumentals done by BURT!

BTW: my favorite instrumental version of a work with lyrics is Wives and Lovers (BB, self-titled album) . I suppose one reason is that I think it is much better than any other version I know of, especially those with vocals not just at the very end.

1. Casino Royale (title theme)---Absolutely THE most underrated movie theme by ANYBODY at ANYTIME!!! It's amazing how the musical momentum builds! Wish I could say I like the actual movie that follows---lol!!
2. Pacific Coast Highway (have the original LP with the cool ads for 1970 Chevys!)
3. Knowing When To Leave (agree with previous props about the ending)
4. Always Taking Aim (You could almost count AT THIS TIME an instrumental album---the Grammys did!)

she's gone away
have you ever guys listened clearly to "she's gone away"???
it's an amazing and very "odd sounding" to be written" in 1968...the trumpet..the celesta..this little drum roll..it does'nt sound like to any other music composed for a big orchestra..i fell in love with this short piece since i was a child..very familiar to my ears and also melancholic but never sad..the music of the Maestro is never sad in general..what do you think pals??let me know something GABBA
