You could see the love that Ronald Isley had for Burt... and vice versa. I remember seeing Ron on Conan O'Brien (with Burt sitting next to him) and saying about Burt, "this man is a genius." I think Ron knows music and songwriting and has known many a songwriter in his day, and yet, you can see the awe he has for Burt.

I was wondering if Burt himself changed the music where Ron sings "I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you" (this change happens later, not the first time) or if Ron improvised that change? Either way, I really like it.

I also love that new intro to the song here. Burt must have REALLY loved it, because he wrote a whole new song around it and put it on "At This Time".

I hope Burt comes out with a new CD soon (of all new music and songs)! It's like when I used to wait with such anticipation for a new Burt/Hal/Dionne song.

Here's an interesting version of "The April Fools" (the title is erroneously listed as "April Fools") by Earl Klugh. The song is so beautiful, it amazes me that it hasn't been done by more and more people over the years. But this guitarist does a fine version of it, doesn't he? Does any composer get such yearning and sadness in his melodies? Burt has been such a gift to us all.

Wow!!! Thanks so VERY much for this link! I loved that 2-part interview. To hear Burt talk like that about his music is fantastic. And when he went to the piano and played a little -- particularly the bit from "Danger" and then talked about it -- was fantastic!! I rate "Danger" as one of the greatest pieces of music EVER... by ANYBODY! It's that good! And so unusual. Burt talked about the dissonance in it. I also got the feeling from the interview -- combined with that other interview posted here when he was in Australia -- that Burt and Dr. Dre had either some kind of falling out or some break in their relationship. But Burt's genius is such that he could compose fantastically wonderful music based on a short drum loop. Burt mentions his gift for melody in either the above or what I'm going to post below.
