Burt, Dusty and Shelby

Post by grooverider »

Singer Shelby Lynne performed Tuesday, Oct. 30th in Hollywood CA. previewing her new CD, "Just A Little Lovin'", a tribute to the magnificent Dusty Springfield. Ms. Lynne performed "The Look of Love" and "Anyone Who Had A Heart", in addition to other classic Dusty favorites. The CD should be released in Feb. '08 and was produced by Phil Ramone. Ms. Lynne most definitely acknowledges the huge influence Dusty Springfield has had on her, noting how difficult many of the songs were to sing.

Ms. Springfield continues to influence newer generations and with Bacharach-David songs to provide guidance, I know I am grateful for her music and her very special talents.

BLue,
Kudos to Dusty and also to her arranger, Ivor Raymonde or Johnny Franz for keeping the chart close to Burt's arrangement for Pitney.....Dusty sang this brilliantly!
Thanks for posting, Blue, and hello to my Staten Island friend Vincent!

Re Dusty & Knowing When to Leave

Post by pljms »

Yes, Knowing When to Leave is a great song which Dusty obviously loved - she sang it on at least three different tv shows during the late 60s/early 70s - but seemed to have difficulty with. Notice how she comes in too early for the chorus and then stumbles on the lyrics. Makes it all the more a pity that she didn't record a polished studio version.
