Just to prove that I`m not a crusty old fogey, I (re)- offer this to posters not around a year and a half ago when I was slammed for submitting something not quite appropriate to this site.

A memorable melody, lyrics and performance, Miss Shirley Horn (with John Williams and the Boston Pops Orchestra, arranged by the great Johnny Mandel), "Here's To Life":

When i was a kid some about the french romantic expressionist sound really grapped me. From Ravel, Debussy, Satie, Chopin some of the most beautiful sounds ever produced.

blue, you might get a kick out of this: (If the video doesn't show and, instead, you see a big exclamation point, hit your F5 button on your computer and it should refresh and then you should be able to watch the video.)

I think that we`ve all exhausted and abused this thread (and its cousins) long enough.
I`m going out with this from an eccentric and under-appreciated writer/performer whose somewhat avant Broadway musicals birthed a number of hits for anumber of singers. This is not among them. It`s a beautiful song from a bomb of a movie. I once had the soundtrack recording (of which at least 75 must have been pressed). He ended his career by appearing too often (I suspect coked-out) on the Tonight Show singing "Pop Goes the Weasel". He deserves to be better remembered.

The title of this movie (which, to my knowledge, has never been seen by anyone - like the namesake of Pink Floyd`s More) is Can Hieronymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Hummpe and Find True Happiness.
If you can find a DVD or soundtrack on cd of this let me know.
I won`t be fasting in anticipation.

I've never seen the LP and I don't think it's ever been released on CD.
But it is out on DVD.
If I find out anything else I'll let you know.
