OMG! This is hilarious! Leslie Uggams was performing the song "June Is Busting Out All Over" and she didn't know the lyrics. The cue card guy slipped and fell and dropped all the cue cards. The show was live and she had to keep moving and singing. Listen as she made up her own language. This is the funniest thing. And make sure you watch the entire thing because at the end, as she's singing the song, they write out the jibberish she's singing. My stomach hurts!

Now hear Leslie talk about this incident. It's great:

I think this is one of Dionne's greatest performances on record. If her voice ever was better than this, then I never heard it. This is not a Burt/Hal song, but I wouldn't be surprised if Burt arranged it. If one talks about great pop songs, "You're My World" has to be included... especially this version.

@ Enormous: "You Are My World" was was produced by BB as is the whole album "Dionne Warwick in Valley of the Dolls".

For contractual reason Dionne was allowed to appear only on the soundtrack of that film but not the OST record. So she rerecorded the "Theme From Valley of the Dolls" which was produced by John Williams for the film with Burt and they built an album around that.

I also particularly love Burt and Hals "Where Would I Go" from that album.

Oh my god yes! I still can't figure out how "Where Would I Go" didn't become one of Dionne's biggest hits. I listen to that song regularly and, each time I do, I'm bowled over by how great it is and how phenomenal Dionne sings that song. It's just so powerful. I'll never figure out how that song fell through the cracks, so to speak.

I know that "That's What Friends Are For" isn't the most popular Bacharach song around here. Even though Burt is on record that it is one of his favorites.

But this live version from Dionne's 1988 Kennedy Center Aids benefit is so rousing and so brilliantly sung, with in the second half everybody from Lena Horne to Nancy Wilson jumping in, that it is worth revisiting. Dionne is overtaken by emotion and clearly crying and Burt is just beaming.

Wow! GehVorei! Thank you for posting that. What a star studded event with Dionne in her element. Lena Horne too!!
