The Eunice and Hal David Collection of 19th- and 20th-Century Works on Paper He's best-known for providing the lyrics to hit songs with composer Burt Bacharach -- "Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" and "Alfie," to name a few -- but Hal David did more than co-write some catchy tunes decades ago. He and his wife, Eunice, also are avid art collectors, specifically of works on paper. Together, they've amassed a formidable collection, part of which will be on view at the Portland Art Museum beginning Saturday in an exhibit organized by the Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts and the UCLA Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. The exhibit features 60 drawings by 48 artists and spans roughly 200 years. Works by such diverse greats as Isamu Noguchi, Alexander Calder, Mary Cassatt and David Hockney will be on display. Portland Art Museum is at 1219 S.W. Park Ave.
