Go to 8 min 57 secs of this Swing Out Sister track - isn't Wives and Lovers buried in there?

Does anyone know any other artists who have buried or sampled Burt into their recordings?

Both Pizzicato Five and Yo La Tengo sampled the fuzz guitar part from After The Fox's "Bird Bath" (or that other song on After The Fox that uses the fuzz guitar; I can never remember which one's which).

And I think I read that Pizzicato Five used the timpani from "Another Night" in "Twiggy Twiggy/Twiggy versus James Bond."

Maybe somebody who's got the mp3 in front of them can compare the two...

Thanks for the link to Swing Out Sister. I've got to say, though, that sample wasn't "buried." It was right up front and sustained. Most samples are just a few measures; this was a prolonged phrase. I've heard they really like Burt's music, and his influence on their style is obvious.

It's in there alright. Loud and clear.

I also notice parts that seem to have been inspired by Reach Out.

BTW, was Breakout their greatest hit? Is there another song of theirs that's particularly interesting?

"Forever Blue" is such a great piece of work! But no one has yet mentioned this: It's a Jimmy Webb arrangement. He also arranged "Precious Words".
