Everything you read says this was a disaster for Burt - dunno, I was too young!!! - but the swirling sound of "The World is a Circle" is superb, children or not.

I never liked the film. The first time I saw it, a few years after its release, was on TV, and I couldn't bear to watch the entire thing. But I have always LOVED the music. I saw Burt in concert in August of 1975 and he was lamenting the way the film was made, his having to use non-singers, and other constraints he worked under. It seems to have been a case of the music being created separately from the film, the film being made with no real thought to the music's composition, and then the 2 were forced together. Rather like an arranged, forced marriage in which, good has the man and woman may be on their own, they were doomed from the moment they were required to go together.
