Martini & Rossi commercials? (re: Loser's Lounge)

Help! The good folks at the Loser's Lounge are preparing for their 15th Anniversary show - one of their legendary salutes to Burt Bacharach - and they desperately need to take a look at the '70s-era Martini & Rossi commercials that Burt and Angie used to do.

Does anyone have a copy that they can send/loan to us?

The shows - which are usually delightful and fun (check out this version of South American Getaway from Lincoln Center last year) will be taking place on December 18th, 19th and 20th at Joe's Pub. (You shoulda heard my version of "Hasbrook Heights" a few years back!)

Please help - it's for a good cause!

Best regards,
Alec Cumming

Alec,

A & E used the footage for the Burt Bacharach bio which aired on that network a few years back. Perhaps their research or clearance department or the producer of the program can help you with your search. Good luck!

Bonjour Fool Killer;

Have tickets for December 20, 2008 @ 7:00 PM. There will be a group of 4 of us attending.

It looks like the show will be a lot of fun!

Hope to meet you before or after the show!

Thanks guys! It took a while, but we finally figured out that the M&R commercials are not in the Burt BIOGRAPHY - they're in Angie's. Joe was able to get a copy, today I think (I hope), but don't know if he'll have time to review and incorporate before the LL shows this weekend. We'll see...

Vincent, I may try to switch my ticket from the 9:30 pm show to 7:00 pm so we can meet! I'm especially psyched to go on Saturday to see Nick Danger's legendary version of the "Casino Royale" theme *with* vocals, plus other rarely-heard gems, like "After the Fox" and "Live Again".

Hey Vincent - can't switch my seat at this point... maybe you'll see me waiting in line? I'm pretty tall. I'll look for you.

And finally - someone put up one of the Angie & Burt Martini & Rossi ads on YouTube!

My Burt buddies Jeanne, Tyler & co-worker Otis & I attended the Saturday December 20, 2008 ‘The Loser’s Lounge” @ Joe’s Pub in Greenwich Village in New York City. I must say it was the best $25.00 I spent for a concert, unless you are talking about the 60’s. I thought this was great and would attend more shows @ Joe’s Pub, until I had to spend $18.00 for a hamburger and some fries. The one drink I had cost $11.00. For that kind of money I should get prime-rib.

“The Loser’s Lounge” was having their 15 anniversary show with a tribute to Burt Bacharach! I am so glad that I went. Had a very pleasant evening.

Joe’s Pub had a small stage that had 10 musicians. There is a small curtain where the vocalists come on stage to sing. There were 22 singers who perform the music of Burt Bacharach & Hal David!

The highlight of that night’s concert for me was:

1. Nick Danger did, ‘Casino Royale’. What a funny routine and the energy Nick displayed was great! You can catch Nick’s act on YouTube. It’s priceless! I had a chance after the show to talk with Nick briefly and told him how much I enjoyed his performance!

2. Katia sang the classic, ‘One Less Bell To Answer’. A truly great vocal rendition of this great song!

3. David Driver recital of, ‘God Give Me Strength’ was worth the price of admission as they say! What raw emotions David display on the lyrics of this song! When David performance was over, the standing room crowd applauded loudly! And when he left the stage he looked like a muffler. He was exhausted (lol)! Yes I mean he was completed drained! I was also able to talk with David after the show and told him, how much I enjoyed his presentation!

Just an aside. I was truly amazed that many of the performers did not know that there is a website dedicated to Burt Bacharach. I told them they should check it out!

Well, when ‘The Loser’s Lounge’ gives their next tribute to Burt Bacharach, I will be in the audience!!

P.S. Alec Cumming, I was looking for you @ the end of the show. I did not see you on line for the 2nd show @ 09:30 PM. I’m sure that you too enjoyed the show!

Sorry I missed you, Vincent! I got there late and had to crouch in front of the stage - a great view but uncomfortable! Your review pretty much sums it up - a great night, really fun. I spoke to the musicians afterwards and they mentioned you had stopped by... we'll meet up next time!
