Bacharach/Warwick Song List?

Post by Raposo Loves You »

Great forum! I hope you'll indulge me in my first post here.

I am attempting to compile a CD set of all the Burt Bacharach/Dionne Warwick recordings, to complement the "Look of Love" and "Something Big" box sets that I have greatly enjoyed. I was wondering if anyone had access to or could provide a definitive list of all the songs written by Bacharach that Dionne recorded in the studio in the 1960s and 1970s (I'm less interested in more recent tracks although I'm glad to have those tracks listed as well). I need something of a "master list" to work from and if anyone can oblige, I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance, and if someone else has already gone to the trouble of compiling this, please let me know!

What about using the "Discography" section of this very site?

Thanks, I did come across that last night. So, I take it that's a comprehensive list?

There are some omissions, such as Warwick's "The April Fools" which due to contractual restrictions appeared on the film soundtrack but not on the soundtrack album. Scepter released it as a single (#37 Pop and # 8 AC) and also included it on Dionne Warwick's Greatest Motion Picture Hits, though; also missing is "California", "Make It Easy On Yourself" duet with BJ Thomas, and a few others. It shouldn't too difficult to compile from that listing and also Alec Cumming's discography.

If that list alone doesn't prove that Burt is a musical genius who has no equal, then I don't know what can! Future generations will be totally astounded that one man could have composed all that phenomenal music. Burt's teacher (Darius Milhaud) had it right when he told Burt, "Never be ashamed of a melody." He certainly never was!

Dionne has also performed Burt compositions "On My Own" (on SOLID GOLD) and "Arthur's Theme" (on a recent concert DVD/CD taped in England). There may be a couple of others that I can't think of, off the top of my head...
