I've been looking at the pictures of Burt posted from the opening night and, I gotta say, I don't think he looks too well. He's smiling, of course, but I didn't think he looked half as good as Hal, who's several years older. I know Burt has had a few surgeries of late, but I do hope he is feeling better than he looked in those pictures. I say that with all affection for the man who has given us so many pleasures and wondrous gifts.

Steve:
Most of those photos were not particularly flattering for anyone who was there; however, I would attribute Burt's appearance to the fact that he's always been in good physical shape, maintained his weight, and does not appear to have undergone any cosmetic procedures. ......... Most of us who have packed on some pounds over time may have fewer wrinkles - but - we have somewhat compromised our health! ............. I agree - Hal looks remarkably well! ............ Wishing them both many more healthy, happy and productive years!

Ron, thanks so much. Your point of view is very welcome and most thoughtful, IMHO.
Also, his mind is extremely sharp and, not unrelated, he is plugging his new play (while keeping from giving possibly undue credit to the current PP production).

Also, besides the surgery and, I guess, relative inactivity, Burt had to travel cross country for this. Long trip, jet lag, and possible difficulty finding a good position for the back.

i was very fortunate to be able to speak to both burt and hal on opening night! burt looked better in person than in his photos, i agree he must have been jet-lagged though, he seemed tired. hal actually looks better in the pictures... he seems much more fragile than he appears.. he wasn't hearing well and seemed to depend on his lovely wife eunice, neil simon actually looked the most robust and rested. what an honor to be there with those three giants....truly the thrill of a lifetime
