bb on npr update
good news.. BB's appearance on piano jazz on npr has not aired in all markets....my local station will air it on april 17....just talked to david lyon(very nice guy) who tells me that if he gets enough positive feedback from listeners that concord records might reproduce the show in about a year. use the addresses from an earlier post. let's do it.

I received very bad news today. As you know, I sent an email to that addressess offering to buy a copy of the show. Here was my response:
Dear Mr. _________,
Thank you for your interest in Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz. Unfortunately, the program with Burt Bacharach is not available at this time. We are unable to offer tapes, CDs, downloads or web archives of most of our previous Piano Jazz shows. We do not have the commercial rights to these performances; only the broadcast rights which limits our use of the programs. Moreover, most if not all of our guests have recording contracts of their own placing further limits on the possibility of releasing and/or selling recordings of Piano Jazz.
We do however, have a partnership with Concord Records' Jazz Alliance series through which some of our past programs are available for sale. You can find a list of available Piano Jazz shows at the Concord Records site, www.concordrecords.com, or you can contact them by phone at 1-800-551-5299. We hope to make more shows available through Concord Records soon, although at this time, I do not know which programs will be released.
I'm sorry I cannot fulfill your request at this time, but I want to thank you again for your interest in Piano Jazz.
