The Burt Bacharach Discussion Forum

I`m sure that what Burt and Steve conceived was a sober examination of youthful romanticism and the perils of a life devoted to creativity seen from a mature perspective. What it seems to have turned out to be is a depressing nose-rub into real life. The "happy ending" doesn`t seem to be satisfying anyone who has witnessed the long, slow break-up that precedes it and, honestly, I don`t think I want to watch that either.I do very much want to hear these songs, `though, and still believe the album could be a real success.
