Two legends have left us:
Donald "Duck" Dunn, the bass player for Booker T. & the MG's. Mr. Dunn played for Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett ("In the MIdnight Hour"), Eddie Floyd ("Knock On Wood"), The Staples Singers, Rita Coolidge, Bill Withers, Leon Russell, Diana Ross, Eric Clapton, Joan Baez and so many more! Mr. Dunn pass on May 13 while on tour in Tokyo, he died in his sleep. He was 70 years young.
Jim McCrary, photographer, who took those great photos of Burt Bacharach for his first two A & M albums, "Reach Out" and "Make It Easy On Yourself". Mr. McCrary also took the iconic photo of Carole King for her "Tapestry" album (with Ms. King's cat at her feet) and Gram Parson's notorious photo for the Flying Burrito Brothers album, with Gram Parsons wearing his Nudie suit adorned with marijuana leaves. He was chief photographer for A & M Records, creating over 300 (!) album covers for the label. Mr. Mc Crary passed on April 29 from a chronic nervous system disorder in Palo Alto, CA. He was 72.
Two men who were just about the some of the best at what they did.
