"Bacharach Method"

Years ago someone described what they called the "Bacharach Method" whereas you would assign letters to some parts of a song. For example in describing a song arrangment the intro would be called "intro", verse = A, chorus = B, bridge = C, outro = outro and so on.

I've been trying unsuccesfully to utilize this method in a band I work with (whether it is the so-called "Bacharach Method " or not). We spend a lot of time discussing various arrangements of our songlist of well-known '70's pop songs, when we try to deviate from the original versions. At times it gets frustrating because not everyone decribes what they want very well. I figured the "Bacharach Method" would help shorten these dicussions tremendously and I'm trying to find information online about how to implement it. Apparently it is not easy to find so I'm posting here, looking for help or a better explanation of what it is I actually need to be looking for. If I can find a printed explanation I feel the band members would be more willing to give it a try. So far it seems my explanation falls on deaf ears at rehearsals or some feel that the songs are all too complicated to describe the arrangements in a simplified manner.
