Wow, thanks, Blue! I`d never even heard OF that song. It reminds me of the later "As Long as There`s an Apple Tree."

Blair! ....... It IS CLEARLY REMINISCENT of "As Long As There's An Apple Tree" ....... Got me to thinking how difficult it would be for Burt to NOT incorporate elements of his very best songs into his subsequent and current compositions! .... Thanks for posting that "blue"

It's hard to imagine that this song was "buried" on the B-side of one of Cliff's more obscure singles "Wind Me Up (And Let Me Go)" ???
Such a shame !

PS
Great lyric by Hal David.....as always.

Blue, do you have any production notes for this song? I don`t think Burt produced or arranged it, but the vocal harmony is lovely and must have been part of the composition. Is the female singer credited?
The more I listen, the more I think that it`s a minor gem.

Blair, I'm sorry but the only information I could find on this song was from Serene Dominic's
Bacharach book "Song By Song"
I haven't a clue who arranged and produced or it ?
I don't think it was Burt...but then I'd just be guessing ?
If any members of the forum can shed any light, please feel free....thank you.

I have Donna Marie's recording of this song from 1966 produced by Charles Calello. It was the B side of 'The Whole Wide World is Watching us', a song not written by B&D. I haven't played it for a while but I remember that the arrangement is more small group than the Cliff Richard recording with electric guitar very much to the fore. I'll give it another listen once I've dug it out.

I like the minor 7th chords shifting back and forth on the "hook" ("through The eye of a needle")

Hello Blue!
"Through the Eyes of a Needle", just like the other Bacharach & David track, "Everyone Needs Someone to Love" were recorded by Cliff in New York, in 1965 (for his album "Love is Forever"), produced by Bob Morgan (Bobby Vinton's producer) and they were arranged and conducted by Gary Sherman.
Take care
