Anyone Who Had A Heart
I read that in the UK, a scout for George Martin heard Dionne Warwick's version and brought it to Mr. Martin, believing it could be Dame Shirley Bassey's next big hit. But that George Martin decided that Cilla Black should record it instead, the rest being history. I never heard that Dame Shirley was a (tangential) part of the early history of this classic, although she did record her version in the 1978 with producer Nick De Caro. Did any of this come out in the recent UK series about Cilla Black?

In the 'Cilla' tv series its Brian Epstein who insists that Cilla records this tune next, he has to Pursuade George Martin to let Cilla have the song,he has to Pursuade Cilla and Bobby to agree to it, they didn't want to record it, George Martin wanted the song for Shirley Bassey, according to the TV series George Martin thought this song needed a diva to sing it which he didn't think Cilla was, he changed his mind when he heard her version.
In the series Brian Epstein says that "I heard this on a recent trip to New York" , while handing Dionne's single of 'Anyone who had a heart' to Cilla and Bobby.
