The Burt Bacharach Discussion Forum

Hi everybody,
To me Burt made the best instrumental music ever. I sometimes wonder if there are any other composers that compose similar kind of music. I know he is unique, but are there more composers that combine pop- and classical music with such quality?

George Gershwin, John Barry (I'm not very familiar with his work though) and Michel Legrand (playing in Rio tonight and tomorrow) come to mind.
