"Innovative" Is What Concord Records Is Now
Thank you for that info. Concord has always been at the forefront when it comes to being innovative. Just recently another fine artist in the person of Rita Coolidge has signed on. There seems to be a widening of the musical spectrum with them now. Take for instance the signing and subsequent release of Jamie Oldaker's "Mad Dogs And Okies" featuring the likes of Eric Clapton, the great Bonnie Bramlett, Taj Mahal, and other top-notch artists. I do wish that they would release some products that are digitally recorded, mixed, and mastered (DDD) and hope that Dionne's will be one of them.

hello all,
i have not had a moment to catch you all up on what has been going on, so now that i have more than a minute...................the summer was quite an eventful one, and not very pleasant.
as you all know, i lost a very dear friend luther vandross, and shortly after, my mom made her transition, so as you can imagine, it was not a very good time for me, however, i was taught that when GOD calls, we all have to answer. i am still dealing with this emotionally, but i know my sorrow will be put into perspective as time goes on, and let me take this opportunity to thank all that sent wonderful emails and cards of condolence.
the end of august and the entire month of september were exceptionally busy for me. i was on tour in the u.k and the netherlands, and i now remember why i have not toured in this manner for these many years. although very successful, it was really tiring. we made it through, but i don't think i will do that again!!!! i know you all get my drift (smile).
we filmed the performance in the u.k. and will be doing more in other places these next months to get out to you for your enjoyment very soon.
i then went on to las vegas and had a wonderful time, all went very well there too.
i am being honored in january to celebrate the years i have been in this business, and i am very excited about this.
i have just signed a recording contract with concord records and will be going into the studio this month to start the first phase of "my friends and me" the duet project that i have been talking about, and this is very exciting for me as well.
i am a recent "grammy", as they call me,(grandmother) again. david and lisa are the proud parents of a beautiful little girl, born august 14th. her name is lealand phoenix, and she is (if i say so myself), one of the prettiest babies i have ever seen, so i will be in the "spoiling business" as my sons call it. so now i have 6 grandchildren...........too cool!!!
i think i've caught you up on everything, and as soon as more comes up, i will get it out to you.

What started off as a 40 song project in conjunction with her 40 years in the business should now be expanded to 45 duets. Fortunately she has enough great recordings to accomplish this plus do 50 all new duets to mark her 50th year in 2011!
