Just curious, if I could get a list of what people think are Burt's top 3 songs of all time..I know this is ridiculously hard.....but if some of you could mention what you feel to be Burt's best, and any lyricist that Burt wrote with is game. I realize that it's all subjective.
I would choose:
1. This Guy's in Love
2. Alfie
3.Walk On By....
Respond if you want.

What I feel to be Bacharach's best and what are my personal favourites are two different things entirely. Here's my three at the top of the former list:
A House is Not a Home
Alfie
The Look of Love

Those three would be my choice too

... for me - an impossible task! ... My favorites are always in an active rotation - it would be far easier to identify those on the opposite end of being my favorites but even those pop up occasionally on my ever changing favorites list!

Burt's two best songs are "Alfie" and "A House Is Not A Home." I never tire of them, and they always make me FEEL something. They're perfect music.
As for the third, my first instinct was "Anyone Who Had A Heart," but then I remembered "Looking With My Eyes," "In Between the Heartaches," "Whoever You Are, I Love You," and "Who's Gonna Love Me." So ... this is an impossible task!

Resisting the temptation just to trot out my personal favourites, I find it difficult not to concur with Bacharach himself when he names Alfie and A House is Not a Home as his best songs. He occasionally aIso mentions Anyone Who Had A Heart but I'd personally choose The Look of Love as my third choice. I think those three songs come as close to perfection as it's possible to get in songwriting and are virtually indestructible. Fifty and more years later those songs continue to move people. I know, I've witnessed it.

Wow!
Top 20 would already be difficult. Top 3 is even harder.
But there are the songs:
Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head
(They Long To Be) Close To You
This Guys in Love With You.
Best regards!

Hi Steve,Missed you. Its easier to name top three favorites... though that is tough too.
I think it has a lot to do with time and place in life when you first heard them. For me A house is Not a Home, Anyone who had a heart, What the World Needs Now.
