Scott Walker had an extraordinary baritone voice whether singing lead with The Walker Brothers or on his Jacques Brel influenced early solo albums. The Walker Brothers had big hits in the UK with Bacharach and David songs including a No.1 for 'Make It Easy On Yourself' and from his second solo album 'Scott 2' here's his masterly rendition of 'The Windows Of The World'.

Awful news....we've just lost one of the greatest singers ever....Scott had it all.
R.I.P. Scott Walker.

This was always the song I thought of on the rare occasions I had in recent years to recall the Walker Brothers:

Not many pop idols end up being considered an avant-garde composer and to go from 'The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore' to this must have been some journey through the long dark night of the soul:

Yes, tremendous.

One of his greatest performances was of Jacques Brel's 'Jackie', which because of its lyrics was rarely played on the radio at the time.

I knew that Scott Walker had covered a few of Jimmy Webb's lesser known songs in the early 70s but hadn't realised that he'd also recorded 'The Moon's A Harsh Mistress', a track left off the Walker Brothers' reunion album in 1975.

English veteran singer Cliff Richard sang Make It Easy On Yourself and The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore during his 1974 Japan tour..
Not a bad medley at all.

Scott had the melodic gift - Scott3 (favorite) and Scott4 (next best) .. very rare melodic gift - but didn't really pursue it after these records. Very Burt like, Inspired probably a lot by Burt (as were most in the 60s), but wonderful music like him and there weren't many. Les Reed passed a few months ago and he was the most Burt-like besides Tony Hatch .. I digress but if you haven't dug into the above two records hope you do and listen to them front to back I hope, they aren't very long 35-45 minutes each the original LPs. No press, no radio, just lucky devotees who have found them.
