Burt added to Glastonbury lineup

glastonbury bannerBurt Bacharach and his band will perform at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, the legendary British festival known for showcasing the biggest acts in rock.

Even more exciting, Burt will perform on the Pyramid Stage, Glastonbury’s iconic main stage, which this year will feature headliners including Foo Fighters, the Who, Florence & the Machine, Paul Weller and Motorhead.

Burt will perform on Saturday, June 27, at 4:30 p.m., sharing the day’s bill with Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Paloma Faith, George Ezra, the Waterboys and Courtney Barnett.

Some U.K. fans may recall that Burt was previously scheduled to play Glastonbury back in 2000, but he was forced to withdraw due to a broken shoulder.

The Glastonbury performance is a late addition to Burt’s summer tour of the U.K., which also includes concerts in London, Killarney, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Nottingham and Bristol.

Summer Pops Concert with San Diego Symphony to take place Aug. 16

San Diego Summer Pops

Just got word that Burt will perform his annual show at Embarcadero Marina Park South with the San Diego Symphony this year on Aug. 16. I don’t know how long Burt has performed these annual Summer Pops concerts with the San Diego Symphony, but it’s been at least a decade and it’s always a terrific show in a breathtaking location.

For young Bacharach, dad’s classics hold enduring appeal

dt.common.streams.StreamServer.clsMark Baker of the Eugene, Ore., Register-Guard profiles the 21-year-old Oliver Bacharach, Burt’s only biological son, who has recently been joining his father on tour as a guest keyboard player.

Blessed with his father’s good looks and quiet charm, Oliver, like a lot of young men his age, is not sure where life is leading him. But he does say this of his father over coffee at Allann Brothers on Hilyard Street: “He’s my best friend.”

Elvis Costello has two projects with Burt Bacharach in the pipeline

364660-488fd548-2d97-11e4-8424-141fab601c36The Australian has some comments from Elvis Costello about his recent work with Burt on the Painted From Memory and Austin Powers projects.

“He has the energy of a man many years his junior,” says Costello. “And he still has a phenomenal gift for melody. We wrote these songs for Painted from Memory that I’m really very fond of and that people seem to still hold with a lot of affection. So to write more of them and then have something totally in contrast like Austin Powers is fantastic. We’ve written about 30 songs since November.”
