March 26 publicity Event?
Did anyone attend or read an account of the Burt/Hal/Dionne 50th anniversary appearance in LA?

Billboard has full coverage of the event, and the article indicates that the Phil Ramone-produced CD will offer Dionne's performances of two songs written by Bacharach without David, and two songs written by David without Bacharach. Nothing about "new" material, as we suspected:

Re: March 26 publicity Event?
The article in Billboard magazine (linked in the post right above this one) has three points I want to mention:
1. "......lyricist Hal David, was originally slated to appear, but canceled due to illness."
I hope it's nothing serious. Has anyone heard anything about Hal not being well? I'm praying for his full recovery.
2. "Warwick laughingly recalled the "32 takes" that Bacharach wanted every time they recorded."
I did not know that Burt did that many takes with Dionne. Of course, we all know what he did with Cilla, but I didn't know he did the same thing with Dionne. I also would have thought that Dionne would have put her foot down and not allowed it. Of course, we all know what a perfectionist Burt is and how he wants his music to be done perfectly. Nothing wrong with that.... however!
3. "He (Burt) also apologized for an earlier rift that ultimately led to lawsuits between the three in the wake of him and David scoring the 1973 film "Lost Horizon," which was a critical and commercial flop."
Interesting that he apologized. It makes sense, though, because, after all, he did put an end to a great thing.

Bonjour An Enormous BB Fan;
It was very refreshing that Burt apologized to Dionne! I hope Burt will talk more about this in his upcoming book!
Take care mon ami.
