Re: wow
"Wow" is right! Thanks, Roberto. That's just terrific!
And how true the following statement is:
"Mr. Bacharach's body of work is remarkable not only for its astonishing size and impact, but for the distinctiveness of his song-writing voice. He has given us a legacy of sophisticated song structures that transcend genre - complex and inventive as well as wonderfully hummable. The Chamber Orchestra feels truly privileged to add him to an august list of honorees who have made a worldwide difference through their music."
I wish I could be there!

Hello-
Rob is correct to be excited, GehVorbei, this is a MAJOR honor by one of the most internationally-revered chamber orchestras on the planet!
And, as a native-Philadelphian (who lives around 15 minutes from where it is happening!!), I plan to be there by hook, crook or musical bridge!
Thanks, Roberto for bringing this to our attention!
Best to All,
Jerry

Re: wow
I salute you for supporting your home team and this sure is a commendable fund-raiser for the Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra and Burt's involvement is just great.
Also the more significant orchestra in your home-town, the Philadelphia Orchestra, has just emerged from chapter 11 bankruptcy, which is terrific news. And maybe it can one day become an "internationally-revered orchestra" again. A status it certainly had until Muti left 20 years ago...

Re: wow
My orchestra can beat your orchestra at twenty paces--with one glockenspiel tied behing its' back
...
And with more key changes than a Bacharach tune!
The Fabulous Philadelphians shall return to financial solvency (they already possess musical greatness, Geh Vorbei!!)
Best,
Jerry

Re: wow - attn Jerry
Hi Jerry,
I,too, might make an attempt to attend this gala! Originally from Phila, I return there
quite often.
This would be such a unique opportunity and , according to the Chamber's website, quite a wonderful evening is planned albeit an expensive one !
Maybe I'll see you there!
