I was listening to Casey Kasems American Top 40 from 1972 on the radio and this came on by someone called Tom Clay who narrated over news footage of the killing of JFK and other things with 'what the world needs now' playing in the background.
Have you heard this and what did you think?

Hi Nicko!
Yes, I remember it on the AM radio back in mid 1971. According to Joel Whitburn's book "TOP POP SINGLES 1955-1996", Tom Clay was a DJ at KGBS in Los Angeles when he created this recording. The single peaked at # 8 in Billboard magazine and at # 7 on both Cash Box and Record World magazines, in August, 1971.
