How far would you go for a BB concert?

I've never seen Burt perform in front of a full orchestra, and frankly it seems unlikely he'll ever do this in Europe again (I live in London). So I'm thinking of flying to LA for the concert in Costa Mesa next february.

That'd be two 11 hour flights, out friday back sunday. Am I mad?

No Bacharach fan worth his salt would ever accuse you of being mad in this instance, although I personally would like at least a couple more days in LA as I think I'd spend one day alone just walking up and down Hollywood Boulevard looking at all the.....er.....sights. Great as it is to see Bachararch with an orchestra, these concerts tend to be quite a bit shorter than the regular band gigs. As pljms remarked after the recent London shows, synthesised strings are a small price to pay for a two hour show with all the additional songs.

Since this is Burt we`re talking about, it`s obviously not a "quality" vs. "quantity" issue. Nevertheless, I say go for the orchestral show. You certainly want to see him conduct from the piano and hear his arrangements brought to life with full instrumentation.
Too bad your only choice seems to be L. A., `though. I was there once many years ago and have never wanted to repeat the experience. Then, again, I`m an East Coast/NYC guy,so...
