I've had this show on DVD for a few years and it's amazing to discover that all of it's now on Youtube. It's worth watching for the duet between Burt and Angie of 'I'll Never Fall in Love Again' alone (30 minutes in) and watch Burt squirm when he messes up the "pneumonia-phone ya" rhyme by singing "phone you". To say that they look uncomfortable singing together is an understatement of almost Olympian proportions.

Apart from the novelty of seeing Burt and Angie perform together, the highlight of the show for me is seeing Sam and Dave out of their comfort zone on 'Make it Easy on Yourself'.

When Burt was conducting the orchestra was it "live" or pre-recorded, it sounds very similar
to the A&M tracks.
Burt did a show in the U.K. in 1965 called "The Bacharach Sound" and that was performed
using pre-recorded backing tracks.

Yes Blue, I'm pretty sure it is the original MCA and A&M tracks they're 'playing' to. That's the trouble with these TV specials from the 60s and 70s - things are often not quite how they seem at first glance. Having vocalists lip-synch is one thing, getting highly trained orchestral musicians to effectively mime to old album tracks is quite another.
