Sad, Isn`t It?

Post by Blair N. Cummings »

Looking at the forum over the past months, it`s difficult not to reach the conclusion that this is all over but the funeral.
Yes, Burt is still touring and playing the hits and will likely die while doing it. That`s wonderful for those who have never seen him and those who can still listen with enjoyment to them after half a century.
Nevertheless, it seems now very unlikely that there will be another album of new material, not even a record of the very uneven Some Lovers songs.
We`ve re-hashed Dionne`s career, voice, and personal habits, buried Hal and all grown old.
Mark has a young family and a life of his own and - with good reason - seems not to look in here any more.
I`ve tried in vain to think of some topic that would stimulate discussion again, but I`m old too now and just can`t come up with one.
Apparently, Joni Mitchell is seriously ill, Todd Rundgren has released a terribly lame album, Jimmy Webb is terrified to record or perform anything but hits everyone tired of decades ago. Pop music is now utterly devoid of melody and intelligence.
Hey, maybe this will stimulate discussion; but it all seems to bode ill and be, yes, terribly sad.

Yes, very true. Spammers have taken over Bacharachonline.com and Mark is obviously absent. It appears that this is now dablu's and cocerton's forum.

Burt can't get his songs played on the radio any more and what record company will spend the money to put out a Burt Bacharach CD? Supposedly, Burt and Elvis are working on a (Broadway?) show based on Painted From Memory. I'm not holding my breath. I wish Burt would score some more movies. If he did that, we could get some more great music from Burt; however, it seems to me that scoring movies isn't something that Burt is interested in. I don't know why not.

I think that, sadly, you're absolutely right.

True words were never spoken! As I mentioned in my Grammy thread, most of the hit songs now are just horrible. The melodies (if you want to call them that) are dreadful and the lyrics are embarrassing.

The amount of "spam" on our forum is horrendous !!!
Let's hope Mark doesn't get "fed-up" and decides to call it a day.

That would be a tragedy !

The spam is here because Mark no longer pays much attention. I don`t know how much it costs him to keep this site up and running (as Tom Snyder used to say) but I`m sure it will die with Burt.
Hey, everything comes to an end.

If I may be so bold to throw out this idea: Mark should assign rights to someone besides himself to be able to delete spammers' posts from this forum.
