i hope someone will now finally release on a box set or whatever the luther vandross/dionne warwick version of what is my favorite bacharach song from that era. does anyone know what the issues were back then and why the original version was never released on record and why then glenn jones replaced luther?

It's one of my favorites too! And you're teaching me something here: I never knew that Luther was the original singer (with Dionne) on that song.

Burt has a quick shift in key right in the middle of that song that slays me. But it's so smooth and not forced at all. What a musical songwriting genius he is.

Luther and Dionne recorded the song together for the shortlived US TV-series of the same title and apparantly it was included when that show was aired. But for some contractural reasons Glenn Jones replaced Luther for the version released on DionneÂ´s Arista album "Without Your Love" ("Finders Of Lost Loves" in the US).
