Dionne Warwick-sung theme songs

Post by Guest »

How about songs sung by Dionne alone, BB songs or not? No. 1 for me would still be "Alfie" and the following would follow, in descending order:
2. Theme from Valley of the Dolls
3. April Fools - from movie of same name
4. A House Is Not A Home - from movie of same name
5. Amanda/He's Moving On - from "the Love Machine"
6. Here I am - from What's New Pussycat
7. On My Way - from "Isn't She Great"

"Finders Of Lost Love" from short lived television series of the same name. This was sung with the late Luther Vandross (recording never released).

It's a toss up between Alfie, A House Is Not A Home and The April Fools. And the winner is:

The April Fools

You're absolutely right - "The April Fools" is a true gem - especially if you give it a serious attentive listen! Although not at the top of the list - Dionne's interpretations of "The Love Boat Theme" and "Champagne Wishes & Caviar Dreams" have that unique inimitable DW quality.

Dionne sings her heart out on "Slaves" the title track from her 1969 (?) movie debut that co-starred Ossie Davis. Good song, great lyrics, stellar vocals.

I also love "On My Way" even though for me there is room for improvement both on Burt´s production and on Dionne´s vocals. Would be great if they could revisit that one for a future DW album. Her voice is much better than that these days.
