To be released on Nov. 2nd, Barbra Streisand's new cd, "Walls" will include her version of "What The World Needs Now Is Love".
The rest of the songs are primarily original compositions, said to explore her thoughts and concerns for the future.
The cd also includes a medley of "Imagine and What A Wonderful World" and her version of "Happy Days Are Here Again".
Here is the title song, cowritten by Alan & Marilyn Bergman, "Walls":

Of course, the song is in fact 'Don't Lie to Me' and is an obvious dig at the man with the world's most famous comb-over and was written by Streisand herself.grooverider wrote:......Here is the title song, cowritten by Alan & Marilyn Bergman, "Walls":

Sara,
You are right, the title is, "Don't Lie To Me". My bad, sorry!

I generally do not appreciate politically charged statements when attending entertainment events. ... We are bombarded with these varying opinions from all sides on a daily basis through our media news outlets. ... There is a place and time for everything that will not interfere with the enjoyment of these entertainment events. The risk always exists of "turning off" 50% of your audience. Couple that with the rude interruptions by audience members who disagree! ... Ultimately it diminishes our enjoyment of the performance.

The CD arrived today. First impressions not great - why mess around with What The World Needs Now, silly background voices.
Also if the Bergmans really wrote the lyric to "Walls" then they didn't spend terribly long on it. Just saying, compare with, like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel...

Hearing Michael McDonald on 'What The World Needs Now' took me back to the mid-70s when his distinctive voice could be heard singing background on tracks by everyone from Steely Dan to Christopher Cross. Then he joined The Doobie Brothers and the rest as they say.........
