Burt and a quotation..?

I was just browsing the internet on various "Bacharach" related sites. I found one dedicated to unique quotes, and they listed this from the Maestro: "SYNONYM - A synonym is word you use when you can't spell the word you first thought of." There is no reference indicated as to where this quote supposedly comes from. Did anyone ever hear of this before? Is it a joke?
