Cilla Black, the white redhair from Manchester

Post by ferper »

Cilla Black, whose real name is Priscilla White, is a redhair singer from Manchester who started with Brian Epstein as a manager and also sung at The Cavern.
She was a real hitmaker by the time of The Beatles, with Lennon and McCartney writing 'Love of the Loved' for her, 'It's for You' written by McCartney, and she had a lot of big hits on her heyday.
She also had a great hit with 'Anyone who has a heart', and for the movie 'Alfie', Bacharach and David were asked to write the main song but the producers didn't like the suggestion for calling Dionne for singing the song and they choose Cilla for that.
There is some video footage of the recording sessions that appeared partly in 'This is Now' BBC TV Special. Hopefully there is a complete video footage of that session somewhere...

She appeared in several TV Shows as well, check the official site for more info: http://www.cillablack.com/
