I just got my copyof the CD from Amazon. What a great set of songs! I never saw the original TV production. In those years, I was listening to music, but not yet aware that Burt and Hal were the geniuses behind so many songs I was hearing and loving. Anyway, I am really enjoying the CD! I had heard "They Don't Give Medals to Yesterday's Heroes" before, along with "Take a Broken Heart," but never "Juanita's Place." What a great piece! Full of classic Bacharach intervals, chord changes, and that signature use of hip brass! These are songs to hear again and again, as I am doing even now.

It's fascinating to compare the Peter Matz-arranged version on the FLIP SIDE soundtrack to Burt's single release which can be found on Hip-O Select's SOMETHING BIG box set. And both are smashing, swinging and perfectly encapsulate the era as much as Burt's scores to CASINO ROYALE, PUSSYCAT, etc.!

I love the score too though apparantly it was an unmemorable mess. I have had the luck to see the Sondheim/Goldman musical Evening Primrose from the same program and while very low budget I find it works quite well
