Doris Wanted To Be More Pop/Rock Oriented

Post by steveo_1965 »

Come the year 1964...Terry Melcher was producing great hits for
Columbia Records...He ALSO was recording his mom Doris Day who was signed to Columbia...
Burt had written a song for a Doris Day Movie, and he was unable to arrange it for Doris..so he wrote a note to Terry's associate, JAck Nitzsche, and asked him to arrange the new song "Send Me No FLowers"
A wonderful record was made, BUT it was never released..after Doris had
a previous rock oriented top 40 record, her hubby and executive producer
MArtin Melcher decided that this was not the correct image for Doris, so the 45 single remained in the can for years..
