Sorry, AEBBF, but that is no samba. Has to do with the part of Latin America colonized by the Spanish, not with Brazil. Someone else will know if that's rumba or what.

"Lazy Day" by Jackie Trent

Post by Dennis Webb »

I recently bought a CD of Jackie Trent's 1965 album, "The Magic of Jackie Trent". It has six or eight Tony Hatch/Jackie Trent compositions on it, but this one stood out. On first hearing, I thought it was a bit unusual, but after another listen or two I had it running in my head for months. So I thought I'd share it here by posting on YouTube. This is the first time I've put anything on YouTube. If this song doesn't grab you on first hearing, try it a second or third time and I think you will be glad you did.

I just noticed that the Hulu.com website has the old James Bond spoof "Casino Royale" online for streaming (free). Just go to Hulu.com and search for "Casino Royale" or select the "movie" option and browse the several hundred films that they have available.

Thanks, Enormous BBFan for posting this clip!
Though I admit to not being a huge Whitney fan---She has a great instrument, though severely abused in recent years---this a really moving interpretation of some of the major gems in the BB/HD catalogue...

Full of emotional weight(God, she makes the lyrics all seem so new & immediate---each one feels like a little character study!), never oversung, or, self-indulgent each one---and I usually don't like medleys---takes on fresh meaning! Obviously, the literal blood relation to these songs might explain a lot of it, but it's respectful to the melody & lyric, but goes out on a limb just the same.

Everybody should REALLY check this one out! Many thanks, Enormous!!

All The Best,

Jerry
