Looking for The Bell that Couldn't Jingle

Post by Steve Schenck »

Does anyone have this song, and the capacity to post it for a while? It's a favorite of mine, and despite listening to the all-Christmas music stations in these days, I never hear it. It's uniquely Bacharachian and I like it a lot. Thanks in advance if anyone can oblige. steve

Here are two YouTube links, one version by Herb Alpert and the other Burt Bacharach but the quality is poor.

Thanks for posting these! Love that tune! The voices at the start of the Herb Alpert recording remind me of the voices on South American Getaway, from the Butch Cassidy soundtrack.

Hello!

I'm glad you are all enjoying the many renditions of "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle." Most thanks is due to Lee at http://musicyouwont.blogspot.com -- he has posted many hard-to-find Bacharach recordings. In fact, there is another version of "The Bell That Couldn't Jingle" in a recent (12/15/2008) post, but I haven't been able to download it from http://www.savefile.com/files/1931786.

The version in that .zip file is by Paul Evans (1962). If anyone can successfully download it, I would be very grateful if you could post the link here!

A friend of mine asked me to locate the Paul Evans version of this song. If someone could repost a link to that Paul Evans version, I'd be most greatful. Thanks and merry Christmas!

Ron and I (among others) note every year how criminally neglected this song is given the glut of tired crap we`re subjected to. I just listened to Herb Alpert`s version trying to decode what is muttered by someone just before the fade. Turns out to be, "This is terrific." And it was...in `68 and today.
And I don`t even like Christmas.
