I didn't realize he'd won a Tony for his work in "Promises, Promises." Orbach and Jill O'Hara's rendition of "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" is probably my all time favorite.

Re: Jerry Orbach Dead
What a sad day. So many people (like me) loved his Lieutenant Briscoe character on TV's "Law & Order". And of course so many of us formed our conception of Chuck Baxter in "Promises, Promises" from him on the original soundtrack album. Orbach was only 69, and he will be missed.
I have to write this little addendum: JO was looking forward to starring in a new spinoff of the "Law & Order" franchise when prostate cancer took him at only 69. Prostate cancer is deadly and kills so many men long before their time. It generally has NO SYMPTOMS until it's too late, which is why if you are a male over 40 you should get a test every year. You have to find it before it announces itself. If you won't do this for yourself, then do it for all those who would miss you terribly if you weren't around. And if you have any doubts you would be missed, spend an evening this holiday season with Dickens' "Christmas Carol" or Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" to learn how very mistaken you are.
Best wishes to everyone. Have a safe holiday season.

Jerry Orbach
I, too, am saddened with the death of Jerry Orbach. I loved him in Law and Order, but I will best remember him from Promises, Promises. I was fortunate to see the show when I was a teenager...a surprise gift one night ... tickets to the show. Now, when I listen to the original cast album, I can still feel the thrill when the Overture starts, fades, and Jerry Orbach's opening song... He was something else !
