Where Was Ms. Warwick??

Tuned in briefly to the Celebrity Apprentice Finale last night and noticed that Ms. Warwick was the only "fired contestant" that did not show up. It was my understanding that ALL the contestants were contractually obligated to appear in the season finale. ..... Hope it was not due to illness. Given her ill mannered boorish behavior on the program it's probably best that she was not there! So many people who know I'm a fan of the maestro and Ms. Warwick have expressed their dismay over the attitude she displayed on the program. Given her self proclaimed "friends - friends - friends" theme for everything she does - I'm surprised that at the age of 70 she has not dispensed with the "me, myself and I" haughty demeanor. This may be as bad a career decision as the Psychic Friends gig! ... She gained no "new fans" by appearing with "The Donald" and lost some of the existing fan base. Do you think Mr. Trump demanded Ms. Warwick's birth certificate as he did with our president?

Dear maestrofan .. this surely is not the place to deliver another attack on Dionne Warwick. In my opinion she behaved in quite a dignified manner on Celebrity Apprentice and not in the 'ill mannered boorish way' you describe. She stated her case in what I thought was a fairly mild way. got voted out and left. I'm sure Dionne realised her mistake and got out fast .. no big deal. I think she thought she would enjoy participating more all until she discovered who she was with!! Why should she have to reappear for heaven's sake? How petty and head of high school you sound demanding that she should! Why are you so put out? She sings fabulously and always has so please leave it that. Let's not personalise our relationships with our successful singers of the day.

I wondered where she was also. But what I found strange was the fact that Trump never mentioned her once nor explained her absence. I have a feeling that it had to do with Trump's own boorishness regarding President Obama's birth certificate. I'll bet you anything that Dionne was totally disgusted by Trump's behavior in that regard and dislikes him so much that she can't stand even being near him. I also have a feeling that she told Trump where to go and that's why he never mentioned her.

I was also surprised that Dionne wasn't on the Celebrity Apprentice finale show. Regardless of how well any of the celebrities did, all them came back (except for Jose Canseco who left the show early due to his father's illness). Even NeNe Leakes, who walked out in a huff, came back for the finale. Listening to some of Dionne's comments about the experience, I got the impression she was through with the whole thing, so she probably had no interest in returning. However, unless she had a concert committment or something equally important, I think she should have been there. Dionne was hardly the worst of the contestants and she probably could have gotten further if she had put more of herself into the effort. Compared to NeNe Leakes, Dionne was an angel. NeNe was absolutely rude beyond words, totally disrespectful, and a gigantic bully. I for one was glad when Dionne actually stood up to her after she was fired. In talking about NeNe Leakes on the finale, Trump did refer to Dionne briefly in mentioning that NeNe took on Dionne, then LaToya, then Star Jones. But that was it. I think Donald actually liked everyone he selected for the show, including Dionne. She also seemed respectful of him.

My comments were not meant as an "attack" on Ms.Warwick - just an observation! She clearly left a negative impression when she appeared in the first few episodes and upon her departure from the program. I feel she was obligated to show up for the finale along with the others and might have redeemed herself by expressing her true feelings in a civil manner. For all we know she may have been asked to stay home.
Despite some of the negative publicity she's generated for herself through the years ......... Ms Warwick remains my all time favorite vocalist and I'll be forever grateful to her for her artistic contributions. When questioned about her participation with the Psychic Friends Network .. Ms Warwick justified it by citing how much she was earning. I suspect NBC also paid the Celebrity Apprentice participants well!

That's true maestrofan I remember an interview with Burt when he was asked why Dioone had done Psychic Network and he replied 'we all have our bills to pay' or words to that effect. Dionne is also an extremely busy lady with her concerts and involvement in many causes etc and also very involved with her family and extended family .. so maybe she just couldn't make the final get together on Celebrity Apprentice. It's difficult to work out what her feelings were after her participation on the show. I just wish she hadn't gone near it! I think she has always managed her own career and has sometimes suffered for the lack of a strong PR person advising her? No hard feelings. It's difficult not to separate the voice from the personality we would ideally like.

There was a fantastic documentary on Burt tonight on BBC4 here inthe UK. Great scenes of him in concert with Dionne and later Burt so enjoying playing for Adele. Fantastic! Also isn't great to see Dionne so quickly in Tokyo after having to postpone the concerts after the catastrophe there?
