Dionne gets another put down on BBC2 Desmond Carrington
Couldn't believe it tonight .. cooking the supper, pouring the wine when Desmond Carrington on BBC2 played a new recording by unknown new singer badly singing 'What The World Needs Now'. Not a great interpretation I must say, slow and unconvincing. Desmond .. who I am convinced has a thing against Dionne, concluded that this new interpretation was better than Dionne's 'difficult one recorded way back in the 60's'. God help me!! Desmond who is older than God himself, and should have been put out to pasture years ago, has the arrogance to pronounce his old time views on things. Where is the journalistic objectivity? Sling him out! It's the second time this old fart has had a slam at Dionne. Please tell me why he and his old opinionated throatly old opinions have prime time slot on BBC Radio 2 on Friday evening. I despair! Have also sent vitriolic message to Radio 2.

At much the same time, Andy Peebles on SmoothFM was playing Dionne singing "In Between The Heartaches" from about 1965. Actually she doesn't really sing it - she kind of floats her way through it. Remarkable stuff.

Absolutely! I listened again to it tonight. I also got a reply from the Desmond Carrington show saying that he was a great fan of Dionne Warwick but not to the exclusion of everyone else and that he preferred the new singers styling on 'Windows of the World' to Dionne's .. I thought it was decent of him to reply.
