I remember meeting Burt in Edinburgh at the stage door of the Lyceum theatre way back in both 1964 and '65 - he was conducting for Marlene Dietrich and I was a teenager who loved his music (still do!). Many happy returns, Maestro Bacharach!

Today, after many hours of strenuous teaching, I came home singing This Guy's In Love With You. Always such as an exquisite pleasure to think about the mind behind such different and profoundly ingenious works!
I didn't realize it then, but the song couldn't have been more appropriate for the day.
