Ive been subliminally thinking about Burt/Dionne record Walk On By.....thinking that Burt might have taken his inspiration musically from Take 5 by Dave Bruckeck, whom Burt admired...
it kind of loosely follows the harmonic scheme for a bit....Any thoughts?

I don`t know.... I think Burt has always tried to oversell his jazz influences. It would be interesting to interview him on that subject in detail.
Personally, I don`t hear what you`re hearing in "Walk On By" but I doubt that I`m the best judge.

I think, Steveo, you must be referring to the harmonic sequence which features the lyrics, 'and I start to cry each time we meet' and 'and so if I seem broken in two'. The fact that I hadn't noticed the similarity before after fifty-three years suggests to me that it wouldn't have been too obvious to Paul Desmond either, the composer of 'Take Five'.
