What to look forward to

Was this the first time you heard of Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) ? http://www.nytimes.com/1998/10/04/arts/pop-classicists-leave-the-crowd-behind.html?pagewanted=all Related to this is a reference in this aticle/interview with Burt to an intimist musical he'd be writing for the theater with Sater...

Re: Burt Bacharach-20 Questions

Thanks Steveo_1965 (did you say around 1965?!) and Enormous.

The version on Youtube seems to try to follow Burt's arrangement.

I hope the link below will allow you to enjoy a better version conducted by the arranger himself.

Re: Burt Bacharach-20 Questions

What's the answer to 7?

I guess some here listened to Burt's arrangement to Marie, Marie, a song written by Gilbert Becaud and recorded by Marlene Dietrich. If you (any one of you) listened to it, what was your impression? Marlene writes about it in her autobiography. I find it stunning.

Re: Burt Bacharach-20 Questions

Burt had horses in two consecutive Kentucky Derbies, guys! One of them almost defeated Cigar in a race with the largest purse there was, almost ending that horse's well-known winning streak. (That's tough talking by a guy who didn't know maybe half of the answers...) But since you are into discussin...

Thanks, Dennis. I've just listened to it, and it seems to fit exactly with what you said, me thinks. I supopse listening to it again will only reinforce that.

Re: Introduction to Burt and his music

I think you post was sooo nice to read (not so loong). The songs you mentioned as among your favorites are among mine too. I am very partial re Burt's own (A&M) recordings of his songs. I've listened to A&M Bacharach before I listened other versions. I don't know if you've listened to the so...

Re: Happy Birthday, Burt!

Enormous: I totally sympathize with what you said above, if you are saying that you wish that being specific, detailed, comprehensive, could somehow reach your goal. But I believe you said it all before -- several times. Recently you were rather specific at least in the way you summarized the import...

Re: Happy Birthday, Burt!

Burt, I gladly jump on David's bandwagon. Your music is an integral part of my life. You are a renewable energy source. Life without your music would lose much of its beauty. I don't want to think about what it would be like without it. Thank you for bestowing your gifts upon us. Thank you, thank yo...

Re: Burt & the SSO: Aust/NZ CD Release - Extra tracks

I am still looking forward to receiving mine. Yesterday I received a new sound system, and guess what its most important use will be?? You were very fortunate, europaboy. I will now play the other Sidney Live I have. Good idea! (I was afraid of playing some of the other albums I have. I don't know. ...
