Re: Pacific Coast Highway music

How about "Sexy" by MFSB? It's a great instrumental, ideal for driving along somewhere hot with the roof off.

Actually it's quite hard to cruise on any nice freeways here in west London - the North Circular doesn't lend itself to many great tunes, but hey I can dream.

Re: Bacharach a subject on BBC's Mastermind

Hello Sara, I will watch this on BBC I-player tonight. But tell me you're wrong - surely he didn't get question 13 wrong???!!!!

Re: Just Wondering (Trivia)

Actually now I come to listen to it again, I think I can hear some keyboard in "What's In Goodbye". DOH!!!

Never mind, this is a very under-rated track and I love the mid-section with its drowning in sunshine. What a lyric.

Re: Just Wondering (Trivia)

Dennis,

what a great question, really set me going through my collection.

I think there may be more than you think - here's one for definate: What's In Goodbye. Not a hint of a keyboard in there.

Also is there any piano in Pacific Coast Highway? And how about Riverboat (Woman)?

Regards, NM

for UK BB fans

There's a new RAC advert on ITV which has a decidedly mellow version of "Close to You" as its backing tune - so mellow in fact you could miss it.
Or am I dreaming?

piano choice

Does anyone know what Burt's preferences are in makes of piano? Does he play one brand exclusively?

I'm buying a new one here in London and the master's choice might just tip the balance for me one way or another!

Stale 4

Elton John did a one-off concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London last week as a fund-raiser for his old college. Literally just him on the piano apparently, until the second half when he was joined by a drummer/percussionist (an old friend). No backing singers, no synthesisers, no band. Oh, and n...

Stale 3

one for my English colleagues -

was it my imagination or did the instrumental coda from the end of "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" crop up on a TV advert in the UK recently - perhaps even Gary Lineker and Walkers crisps?

Maybe I'm mistaken, I may need to start therapy...

Stale 2

OK here's the second of my week of posts. It concerns The Look of Love. Why is the Burt & Ron Isley mid-1990's version so different? Burt has added a whole new tune for the introduction, and a new vocal section later on ("don't ever go, don't ever go; I love you so much, and I need you, don...

Steveo says we're stale????

Stale?! That sounds like a challenge! Ok, I promise to put one new post on the forum every night for a week.

Here's the first one... I've always wanted to ask, honest answers only please... how old is everyone on this site?

I'm 48.

Re: Check This out!

Steveo, I bought this about 2 years ago for about $100 dollars from a US website (I live in London UK). Highly recommended: the sound quality is fine throughout. This was the album that introduced me to the vastly under-rated "Are You There (With Another Girl)" and the legendary "Hasb...

Steveo,

this seems to be another BB tune that I have missed - where can I find Window Wishing so I can give some informed comment on your post?

Burt live on DVD

I went to the London Roundhouse concert last year and when I saw this DVD on sale - the whole concert, with full orchestra - I risked the small price involved (£5). The DVD arrived and it is a proper BBC recording of the concert. So if you want to see rather than just hear Burt - essentially the sam...
